Why We Need a Savior
The Bible teaches that all people are separated from God. This separation is called sin. Sin is not just the bad things we do, but a state of being that affects every part of us and cuts us off from our holy Creator. The consequence of sin is deathβnot just physical death, but eternal separation from God, which the Bible calls the "second death."
Because God is perfectly just, He must punish sin. But because He is also perfectly loving, He made a way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to Him.
The Solution: Jesus Christ
God's solution to our sin problem is a Person: His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only way to God the Father.
- β
His Identity: Who He Is
Jesus is fully God and fully man. He is the second person of the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit). He came to earth, born of a virgin, to live a perfect, sinless life that we could not live.
- β€
His Work: What He Did
Jesus willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. He took the punishment that we deserved upon Himself. This act of love and sacrifice satisfies God's justice completely.
- π
His Victory: He is Risen
Three days after His crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead, conquering sin and death. His resurrection is the ultimate proof of His power and victory, guaranteeing eternal life to all who believe in Him.
The Invitation: How to Be Saved
Salvation is a free gift from God, but it must be received. It is not earned by good works, church attendance, or any human effort. The Bible says we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
To be saved, you must:
- βAcknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a Savior.
- βBelieve in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that God raised Him from the dead.
- βConfess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and surrender your life to Him.
Prayer of Salvation
"Dear God, I know I am a sinner and that my sin separates me from You. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead to give me eternal life. I now turn from my sin and accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for Your forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. In Jesus' name, Amen."
